1. The eye on the top of the pyramid

The eye can be thought to represent divine vision and omniscience, the rays illuminating from it metaphorical for the light of God. In the shape of a triangle, this is a likely reference to the holy trinity. Taking this one step further, it’s a human eye suggesting that the top-most part of the pyramid references Jesus. Removed from the pyramid it is still its own unit and symbolic of God represented in humanity. Sometimes called “The Eye of Providence”.

2. Annuit Coeptis over the pyramid

This translates in Latin to “He/She favors our undertakings” (aka providence). Again, this is a likely reference to God, and the divine origins of America. God blesses the money and trusts the whole financial system that is in place. This is a way of consecrating the bill and currency itself as holy. He/she can also be extended to include the common man/woman/citizen of the USA. Here is a conflation of authority with the common person, suggesting that the people have the power, are one and the same.
